FMC CODE OF CONDUCT

FMC has asked that all PYH members make themselves familiar with the Code of Conduct at the rink.  Please pay special attention to numbers 6 and 7.  This exists for the safety of everyone at the rink. 

In addition, please refrain from parking in the marked fire lanes outside the rink.  Those areas must stay clear for emergency personel and equipment.

Welcome to the 2018-2019 hockey season!

Good Morning PYH Families!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 season!  It feels as though we just wrapped the 2017-2018 season, but here we are again beginning another season of hockey.  I hope everyone enjoyed some quality time this summer full of fun and relaxation, but now it’s time to get to work.

This letter will cover some important announcement and reminders as we begin our season. 

Announcements

  1. As mentioned in a previous email, this year PYH decided to place all teams, except for 1 Mite team, in the South Shore Conference.  It was not an easy decision to leave Yankee Conference, but the Board of Director’s felt this decision was in the best interest of the Organization.  We have 26 teams representing our town in the Conference. 
  2. Practices have begun, and we are currently in the callup process.  The call up process is the final part of the tryout process players participate in each spring.  The purpose of having callups in the fall is to address 3 primary areas:
    • They allow for players that might have advanced significantly over the summer to potentially be placed on a higher team.
    • They allow for roster flexibility – as new players register or leave PYH over the summer we have some flexibility in balancing the final number of players on each team in the fall.
    • It allows our volunteer coaches to have some autonomy in adding to their final roster. In other words, if their team is short on defenseman, the coach will have the ability to call up a player that helps to fill that specific need.

    With various additions and subtractions over the summer, we have some teams with as few as one callup and others with as many as three to four callups. It’s also important to reiterate that callups are subjective. The  callup might not be the best skater or the best scorer on the team below; it could be a player that fills a specific role or a positional need. The callups are vetted by the Coaches and approved by the level coordinator.   Our goal is to have callups complete by September 12th, so teams can settle in to the season.

  1. Our Annual Golf Tournament is on Friday, October 5th at Southers Marsh.  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so we are asking for everyone’s support for another successful outing.  We are always looking for hole sponsors, raffle items and of course, golfers!  So please go on-line and register.  I guarantee you will have a great time!
  2. Team Sponsors – as in year’s past we hope to secure a sponsor for each of our teams.  If you know of any business that would like to sponsor a PYH team, please contact your level coordinator and they will forward you the appropriate paperwork.

  Reminders

  • Locker rooms are assigned by the hour you are on the ice.  Odd hours (i.e. 7:00am, 3:30pm, etc.) use the odd numbered locker rooms while even hours (i.e. 8:00am, 4:30pm, etc.) use the even numbered rooms.  If you arrive at the rink and one of the teams on the ice is in the wrong locker room, then ask the coaches to check with the teams on the ice and move the gear to the correct locker room.  Please note that for Power skating and Skills nights only 2 locker rooms are used so teams need to double up. 
  • Equipment – please be sure your player arrives to all practices and games with full equipment. This includes mouth guards and neck guards for all levels. 
  • Game jerseys – players should report to their games with both jerseys.  Jerseys should be clean (free from noticeable stains, etc.).  Remember your player is representing the organization. 
  • PYH and South Shore Conference are serious about proper parent behavior at all events.  South Shore Conference’s Rule 19 is posted on the home page of the website.  The underlying theme of the rule is this:  cheer for Plymouth and keep all other sentiments to yourself.  Any inappropriate or disrespectful behavior by a Plymouth parent puts our players at risk.  If you see inappropriate behavior from an opposing team, do not act.  Report the behavior to your team’s coach.  
  • Communication – please direct any questions about your player’s team directly to the Coach. If you have questions or concerns about the program, please contact your level coordinator.  Coordinator contacts are listed below:

PYH 7th Annual Golf Tournament
 

Plymouth Youth Hockey’s 7th Annual PYH Golf Tournament.

Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at Southers Marsh

 

What:     An 18 hole, best ball scramble followed by dinner and other evening events. The evening events include:

                • Mixed grill dinner

                • Cash bar

                • Sports memorabilia silent auction after golf beginning around 5:30pm

                • Other prize opportunities

                • Golf shirts for all registered players

 

When:    Tournament to be held on Friday, October 5, 2018:

                • 11:30 AM – Registration, Driving Range & Putting Green Available

                • 1:00 PM – Shotgun Start

                • 5:30 PM – Dinner and Evening Festivities

SOUTH SHORE CONFERENCE RULE 19 - PLEASE READ

 

 

Please read the South Shore Conference rule below.  The league is very serious about the behavior of spectators on rink property.

 

RULE 19 

The member towns and coach of each team are responsible for the behavior of the spectators from their town. If the spectators get unruly or abusive during the game, it is up to the direction of the referee to stop the game and determine who is at fault. If it can be determined whom or what town is at fault, they shall forfeit the game. If it cannot be determined who is at fault or it is unsafe to continue the game, it will be stopped and the Disciplinary Committee will make a decision. 

1. The South Shore Conference will establish a discipline committee to investigate and conduct a hearing if appropriate, concerning any major incident involving spectator or parent. An officer of the SSC will chair the Discipline Committee. The discipline committee will be comprised of three members of the Executive Board and two Program Directors on a rotating monthly basis.

2. A major incident shall be defined as, but not limited to, the use of obscene or vulgar language, verbal: physical abuse, taunting of players, coaches, officials and throwing of objects in the viewing area, team benches, or ice surface, etc. 

 

3. When a major incident on the ice rink property used by the SSC involving a parent or spectator is brought to the attention of the SSC Executive Board by rink officials, ice officials(referee or timekeepers), incident reports or other programs, the affected programs will be notified by the SSC President or designee.

4. The program(s) will have 48 hours to respond with recommendation for discipline to the chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee. The program will identify everyone involved. If the program’s action is deemed acceptable, no further action shall be taken. If the chairperson of the Discipline Committee deems the program’s recommendation unacceptable and/or inadequate, the individuals involved will immediately be suspended from all SSC activities until the incident is resolved. The Discipline Committee shall convene to investigate the incident and to hold a hearing within one week. All parties involved in the major incident shall attend the discipline hearing.

5. Annually prior to the start of the hockey season, each program will be responsible for sending written or electronic notice to the membership advising them of RULE #19, a copy of the letter will be submitted to the South Shore Conference President no later that the September directors meeting.
