Plymouth Youth Hockey will offer six Girl’s Teams for the 2017-2018 Season at the following levels: U10, two U12, U14A, U14B, and 2 half season U19s for the high school aged girls. All of the Girl’s Teams will play in the South Shore Conference for next season.
If you know of anyone who is interested in playing girls hockey in Plymouth, please pass along this information, or put them in touch with me. We are looking for girls experienced or not, siblings of current players and girls from other programs who may not have access to all-girl teams.
For those interested in giving hockey a try before committing to a team, we will once again offer Hockey 101, an introduction to ice hockey in March of 2018. The program runs weekly on Saturday mornings and the cost will be $75. This program is available to everyone (not just girls) born between 2003 and 2008 who is new to hockey but thinking about playing next year and wants to get a jump on things by gaining experience. The primary focus will be on skating, but we will use sticks and pucks as well. While full hockey equipment is recommended, it is not required, but at least all players should have hockey helmets, hockey skates, gloves, and sticks.
Birth Years 2010 and later – most likely the best spot will be the PYH Learn to Play program. There are usually 5-7 girls who participate in a mixed group. Experienced skaters can try out for a coed Mite Team
Birth Year 2009 and 2010 – there are several options depending on skill level – PYH Learn to Play for newer skaters, sign up for the Girls U10 team or tryout for a boys Mite Team for more experienced players
Birth Years 2007 and 2008 – Sign up for the Girls U10 team or tryout for a boys Squirt Team
Birth Years 2006 and 2005 – Sign up for the Girls U12 team or tryout for a boys PeeWee Team
Birth Years 2004 and 2003* – Tryout for one of the 2 Girls U14 teams and get placed appropriately according to skill level or tryout for a boys Bantam team (checking)
Birth Years 2002 and earlier – Sign up for the Girls U19 team
* 2003 Birth Years who will be Freshman and expect to make the Girls High School team will want to play half-season U19. Please register for the U14 team and email me that you will be a freshman in the fall of 2017 so I can move you to the appropriate team. If you are a less experienced player, you should play on the U14 team for another year to gain valuable experience and playing time. Our goal is to put the girls where they belong.
To register, please click on “Register Online” on the left. Your registration will not be complete until you have paid your $250 registration fee (or $75 for Hockey 101). Please note that the default payment is in full, but you can edit it to just the $250 so you can pay in installments.
